Biography

Erin K. Colgan is a Senior Partner at the law firm of Angiuli & Gentile, LLP. With over 23 years of experience in Family Law, she leads the firm’s Divorce, Family Law and Mediation Departments.

Ms. Colgan’s areas of concentration include both contested and uncontested divorces, child custody and support matters, separation agreements, post-judgment child support modification, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, mediation, and most notably, high-stakes litigation. Ms. Colgan also offers pension valuation services and assists divorcing parties with QDRO agreements. She is often consulted and retained by other members of the Bar who need assistance drafting orders to divide pension benefits following divorce proceedings.

Widely respected by her peers and a former prosecutor, Ms. Colgan was recently selected by Attorney and Practice Magazine’s Selection for 2025 Raising the Bar Top 10 Family Law Attorneys. Her extensive and broad background makes her highly qualified to assist clients who are choosing from the diverse array of paths available in connection with divorce, separation, and custody matters. Known for her signature empathy and personal connection with her clients, she innately understands the challenges involved in the dissolution of personal relationships. She is a zealous advocate for the enormous potential that a new beginning can bring to those who are confronted with the emotional distress of family dissolution and physical transition.

Ms. Colgan has assisted countless men and women in navigating their divorce and custody matters to a successful conclusion. Whether the situation requires litigation, advocacy, or alternative dispute resolution (such as mediation or collaborative divorce), Ms. Colgan has the experience necessary to assist a wide range of clients with situations ranging from the most basic and amicable divorce or custody matters to the most highly contentious and high net worth scenarios. She is adept at handling all of the financial aspects of divorce, including the securing of appraisals of assets and businesses, distribution of pensions, and complex financial arrangements.

Ms. Colgan is an active member of the Richmond County Bar Association and the Staten Island Women’s Bar Association. She has served as the Matrimonial Committee co-chair of the Richmond County Bar Association, has been active on New York City’s 18B panel, and also served as an Attorney For The Child in Richmond County. A former prosecutor in the District Attorney’s Office, she has also been active on the Collaborative Committee for Richmond County for Child Protective matters through the Office of Court Administration for the State of New York.

Ms. Colgan has provided Continuing Legal Education lectures and content to her colleagues concerning custody and child protective issues.
