Severe injuries often present need for workers’ compensation

On Behalf of | Oct 22, 2019 | Workers' Compensation |

Most people do not anticipate suffering serious injuries. Unfortunately, severe harm can come seemingly out of nowhere, especially when a sudden accident takes place. It is not unusual for injury-causing incidents to occur for individuals who work with dangerous equipment while on the job. When this happens, individuals often need financial assistance from workers’ compensation.

New York readers may be interested in an out-of-state accident that caused severe injuries to one worker. Apparently, the man had been utilizing some kind of saw while carrying out his duties on a construction site. The saw kicked back, and as a result, the blade hit the man in the chest, neck and jaw, causing a severe laceration from his sternum to his jaw.

Other workers on the site called emergency services, and after they arrived at the scene, the man was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Information regarding his exact condition was not available at the time of the report. The report also did not say what the man was working on at the time of the accident.

No one wants to suffer serious injuries while on the job. Even though some New York residents understand that their jobs are more dangerous than others, they still want to make it home safely at the end of the day. If workers are not so lucky, they may need financial help with medical bills, lost wages and other issues that can arise after a work-related accident. Fortunately, they can learn more about workers’ compensation and obtain help from knowledgeable attorneys in applying for benefits
