Workers’ compensation benefits include rehabilitative services

On Behalf of | Jul 29, 2016 | Workers' Compensation |

If you should ever have the misfortune of being hurt on the job, hopefully, your injuries will not alter your life in any great measure, and you’ll be back to your old self quickly. But sadly, sometimes, injuries can leave workers with long-term issues that require some form of rehabilitation. Fortunately, the state of New York’s Workers’ Compensation Board offers a variety of rehabilitative services for injured employees.

The services offered by the board’s rehabilitation staff are intended to reduce or eliminate disabilities caused by injuries. Rehabilitation is aimed at either getting a worker back on the job or helping the worker make adjustments so as to resume having a normal life as soon as possible

Injured workers have four general kinds of services which may be able to help them:

  • Medical Rehabilitation, with physician-supervised treatment that includes muscle conditioning and exercise.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation, which consists of programs that assist workers who are unable to return to their jobs due to their disability.
  • Social Services, in which workers are provided access to social workers who can help with financial or family problems that are impeding rehabilitation.
  • Selective Placement that can help a worker who has suffered a permanent disability find a job that is better suited to his or her present abilities.

Contending with life-altering work-related injury is a challenge. But the services provided by the state’s Workers’ Compensation Board can provide you with some of the help you need to move forward in your personal and work life. And a workers’ compensation attorney may be able to help ensure that you are able to take advantage of the benefits for which you are eligible.
